Goodbye, Stella.
I will never forget you, my very good friend and big step-sister.
Our people are very sad, but I know that you're at the
Rainbow Bridge, and we will run together again.

They found a good place for your collar and leash,
and your toys are all set aside.
They made you a place in the shade of a tree,
and then they all sat down and cried.

Stella
12/21/86 - 4/8/00

"A peace above all earthly dignities,
a still and quiet conscience"
     ~Shakespeare
Stella came to us in February 1987, just a puppy, and instantly became
family. She has been with us through some good times and some challenges, filling our home with her love and joy and loyalty.

In December 1996, Stella was diagnosed with cancer, treatable but terminal; she would live for months, maybe a year, with treatment.
In  December 1999, thanks be to God and to the incredible love of her people,(Tasha's Grandpeople) we celebrated her 13th birthday and three year remission.

In the spring of 2000, the cancer came back and Stella went on to wait at the Rainbow Bridge.  Our little one who trotted lovingly beside us for 13 years went bravely on ahead alone, when we took off her leash for the last time.
"So leave awhile the paw-marks on the front door
Where I used to scratch to go out or in,
And you'd soon open; leave on the kitchen floor
The marks of my drinking-pan. "

You were never masters, but friends. I was your friend.
I loved you well, and was loved. Deep love endures
To the end and far past the end. If this is my end,
I am not lonely. I am not afraid. I am still yours.
